JULEP: Oxygen Nail Treatment

Pin It THE WALKING DEAD COMES BACK TONIGHT AHHHHHHHHH!!!

I was going to wait to review this, but I know people are excited about Julep's Oxygen Nail Treatment and their Freedom Top Coat from this month's box. I'm going to do a short review of the Oxygen Nail Treatment today. Check after the jump for review and swatches!

The point of this nail treatment is:
1) To repair weak, thin, peeling, or easily broken nails by promoting nail plate oxygenation.
2) To act as "nail makeup", for an "almost bare", natural look.

I previously have used Julep's Nail Therapy and really enjoyed it, so I was excited to try this new treatment of theirs!

I followed their instructions by applying to clean nails, without base coat, polish or top coat. It's best to apply it without any other polish/base/top coat to allow it to work properly. I did 2 coats of the treatment and I wore it for 2 days. After two days, I did notice my nails to be stronger/thicker than they were before I applied the treatment.

I generally have strong nails but they are prone to breakage like anyone else's nails! I don't have any peeling issues, so I can't comment on how well this treats that issue. The only 2 other nail treatments I've used to improve nail strength have been Julep's Nail Therapy and Hard As Hoof. I feel like I get the same results as both Nail Therapy or HAH with Julep's Oxygen Nail Treatment, but in less time and application.

The other quality I liked was that this is lightly tinted, to act as "nail makeup" as they claim.

As you can see Julep's Oxygen Nail Treatment is a sheer pinkish nude color. But the best part? I have super, severely stained nails, they're pretty bright yellow actually hahaha, and this covered it up and made my nails look pretty darn clean and natural! Again, I did 2 coats of the Oxygen Nail Treatment. Just 1 coat was kind of too splotchy looking for my taste.

Overall, so far, I honestly think this product has worked GREAT for me! A LOT better than I expected, I was very happy with the results and so were my nails :) If you're wondering, I did use 365 Days of Color's Miracle Balm 3-5 times daily. I only mention this because of the ingredients in the balm, mainly biotin. But I never see these results with just the balm... just keeps my cuticles lookin' pretty ;)

I did have a few complaints about the treatment. I wish it was faster drying... After 30 mins or so it got dented and had marks from towels I folded haha. I didn't mind because I wasn't planning to leave the house, but I definitely wish that dry time was better. If it was. I wouldn't mind wearing this out and about. Another issue I ran into, the 2 days after removing the Oxygen Nail Therapy, my nails were sensitive and a little sore every now and then. Maybe that's just me but I thought it was worth mentioning because I've never had that feeling before.

If you're in the market for a nail treatment, I definitely think this is worth a shot! I kind of want to try it with polish, or Seche to cut the drying time down, to see if it still works. I know it says "for best results" not to, but it's worth a shot, huh? If I do, I'll edit this post! Please remember the results from products like these can vary from person to person! I'm only speaking from my own personal experience. Since everyone's nails and body are different, I can't guarantee the same results for everyone. I hope it does work for you just as well though!

  1. I went for the It Girl box so I didn't get the Oxygen treatment. I was intrigued by the promo email, but... I couldn't sport this "look" for 2-3 days. Even if it did combat staining. Does it? Mine are pretty horrid yellow, too. LOL It doesn't bother me too much because I always wear polish.

  2. I have this treatment from the Julep box but have been waiting to try it because, um, well, I find it hard to go 2 days without a nail polish.... Sounds like it might be worth it!

    1. It was hard! But a few days of sacrifice has been worth it! I might do it once a week, after I find out how it works with polish :P

  3. The first time I used it I also had trouble with denting. This time I waited 15-20 minutes before applying the second coat and that seems to of helped.
