POLISH ADDICT: The Wizard Of Oz Collection

Pin It IT'S FRIEDDD EGGGG FRIED EGGGGG! Okay sorry, that's the coffee talking. I'm lucky to get through typing this because my brain and eyes are like all spaztastic right now lmao

Polish Addict The Wizard Of Oz Collection

Today I have a huge post for you, I'm going to be reviewing Polish Addict's Wizard of Oz Collection. WHAT?! A WIZARD OF OZ COLLECTION WITH COLOR?! (that's the coffee again) I have to give it to Laura, these are very pretty and unique polishes. I even told her she entirely blew OPI's collection out of the water and these where the best quality polishes I've reviewed for her yet. I'm very impressed. And I'm not easily impressed (I don't think). SO without further adieu (aka me bouncing off the walls), let's get at it!

Here are some snazzy macros for your visual enjoyment:

And here are the swatches! (All swatches are without top coat)

Polish Addict Scary Scarecrow over China Glaze

I love the teal glitter in this! Makes me happy! Scary Scarecrow is a mix of "clear base with a mix of holo gold glitters neon fine matte teal, green, and yellow glitters" There's also a little bar in there, too. Not the bar glitter I'm used to seeing, I want to call them "slivers" because they're so thin! What I like about the slivers is that they have bends in them to create reflection BUT they all entirely lay flat since they're so thin! I love bar glitter, but I have a love/hate relationship when it sticks up... maybe this is the answer! Slivers, hmmmm!

I did 2 coats of SS over China Glaze Desert Sun. This polish is packed with glitter! Which makes getting a good amount of glitter on your nail easy. Good news is, even with all the glitter SS has a smooth application. It also had a good dry time, no complaints here!

Polish Addict Wicked Witch over Barielle Positive ZEN-ergy

This was one of my personal favorites. I really enjoyed the glitter mixture in Wicked Witch. In this polish you'll find "clear base with a mix of matte green hex and square glitters, matte black bar glitters, silver holo shard glitters, silver hex glitters and holo silver stars". WHEW! There's a lot going on in this polish, but somehow it all works together perfectly.

I layered 2 coats of WW over Barielle Positive ZEN-ergy, I think they played together really well and came across really "witch-y". With this one it was best to apply with short small strokes to smooth the glitter out. Other than that, I had no issues. I was pleased with the amount of glitter and the dry time.

Polish Addict Emerald City over Julep Donna

I think we're all thankful (admitted or not) that there is finally a green polish in an Oz Collection (*cough*OPI*cough*). This was another top favorite of mine. Emerald City is described as, a "shimmer teal/green jelly with large neon blue squares, matte neon blue glitters metallic green glitters matte black bar glitters, and matte pastel green glitters". L-O-V-E. The mixture of glitter in this one is just gorgeous to me. I didn't really feel that this was much of a jelly polish, I seems like more of a clear with shimmer to me.

I did 2 coats of EC over Julep Donna (1 coater!). This one was great. Smooth application with a good amount of glitter and a good dry time. No complaints from me here, I was rather impressed with this one :]

Polish Addict Over the Rainbow over Sinful Colors Envy

Oops I didn't mean for so much green haha, this was just the best undies for Over the Rainbow! Over the Rainbow is a "blue jelly with matte rainbow square glitters and holo gold fine glitter". Again, not too sure about the jelly part on this one. This was more of a clear base to me. And I wouldn't call the gold glitter fine, they're small hexes. Not trying to get technical! Just saying :P I'm a square freak so I love this one!

I did 2 coats of OTR over Sinful Colors Envy. This polish had the perfect amount of glitter, a great application and a great dry time. You get 0 complaints from me on this one.

Polish Addict Oh, Toto!

Polish Addict Oh, Toto!

OH TOTO! Haha I love that dog's name so much. Oh, Toto is "a shimmer black jelly with silver holo glitter, and a mix of matte black glitter". This one is a jelly! :] I wasn't a total fan of this mixture, but I'm also not a big fan of black polishes haha

I did 3 coats of Oh, Toto sans undies. I wouldn't layer it over black because it drowns out the matte hex glitters, I tried haha it works best alone.  It had a good application and a good amount of glitter. It also has a good dry time, with patience. Meaning, you're letting the layers dry before building it up, as with any jelly polish.

Polish Addict Cowardly Lion over Julep Debra

I didn't think I'd like this one as much as I did. The mixture of glitter all just plays really well together! I think if you really wanted to, 3 coats would make it opaque. Cowardly Lion is "a shimmer light brown jelly with a mix of holo red, holo gold, and copper glitters and squares". This would make a badass fall polish, too!

I did 2 coats of CL over Julep Debra (1 coater!). Application was smooth, the amount of glitter was AWESOME and dry time was good. No complaints from me on this one.

Polish Addict Tin Man's Heart over China Glaze Recycle

Another favorite o' Lacey. I just can't get enough of this glitter mix and I DON'T EVEN MIND THE HEARTS! And I hate shaped glitter! What's wrong with me... Tin Man's Heart is "clear base with silver metallic glitters matte large red hex, small red matte squares, and red matte hearts". That it is. I can't get enough haha I think this is my favorite out of all of them.

I did 2 coats of Tin Man's Heart over China Glaze Recycle (one of the greatest grey polishes ever). Great application, glitter coverage, and dry time. I was happy that this polish had a great because I loved it so much! No complaints from the Lace Face (coffee is talking again, guys).

Polish Addict Dorothy Gale
Polish Addict Dorothy Gale
Polish Addict Dorothy Gale
Not a favorite, but very close to it! I like this one because it is a great buildable jelly formula. Dorothy Gale is a "ruby red jelly with matte periwnkle glitters, metallic red glitters and winter white matte glitters". Yes, yes to all of that! The jelly was a little more on the pink side than the red, I wish it was more red but it is still a nice color.

I did 3 coats of Dorothy Gale, no undies. I was impressed with how well it built up! With any jelly polish, dry time and patience is key - keep that in mind while layering. The application was smooth and the amount of glitter was perfect. Mind your dry time and you'll be good to go on this one!

PS: Dear OPI, this is freaking reflective curl, learn it and love it. Signed, Lacey.

Polish Addict Good Witch over Julep Simone

Good Witch was another one I was pleasantly surprised with! I'm not a fan of pink polish but I can get on board with a good pink glitter top coat. Good Witch is "clear base with holo rose glittters, iridescent glitters, and matte winter white stars". A very pretty, shimmery mixture! Totally channeling The Good Witch here!

I did 2 coats of GW over Julep Simone. This was a very smooth application despite all the glitter packed into this polish, great application. The glitter coverage was perfect, the stars were also pretty easy to get out. Dry time was great. Again, no complaints from me here. Laura sure did great on all these formulas, her polishes have come a long way!

Polish Addict Yellow Brick Road over China Glaze Lemon Fizz

See those bar slivers I was talking about and how they curl and still lay flat at the same time! I wasn't lying guys! This is without top coat. I had ONE pop up, but overall they all were flat. True story, not lying (as I was kind of accused on Instagram the other day). No point in me lying when you'll figure it out yourself? </rant>

Yellow Brick Road is "a yellow jelly with a mix of holo gold glitters". I think this represents the Yellow Brick Road pretty well, don't you? The base is a yellow jelly, but it is not buildable so I recommend layering.

I did 2 coats of YBR over China Glaze Lemon Fizz (aka the best yellow EVER).  Application was good, the glitter came out great and covered well. Dry time was also good for this one. No complaints, I'm just thrilled about flat bar glitter guys!

TL;DR? Overall I was very impressed with this collection as a whole. The quality of these polishes is great, Laura really impressed me this time around. I told her these are the best polishes she's EVER sent me to review and that's a true statement. My top picks for this collection? Tin Man's Heart, Good Witch, Wicked Witch and Emerald City. Also, don't forget to check out her Facebook, she might have a coupon on there ;] (hint: see her "about me")

Whew! Thanks for sticking with me through all those pictures!

  1. I'm still not a fan of curling glitters in Yellow Brick Road. if it curls, its a no for me. that polish is disappointing, and knowing the high quality of Laura's other polishes, I know this one could have been a lot more successful with higher quality bar glitters.

Oh and maybe if the bars were a little thicker, like more rectangular, that would help it read "brick road" a little better! Like the yellow squares in Over the Rainbow if they replaced the bar glitters. If I didnt know the names of the individual polishes but knew it was Oz related, I would hands down guess "Oh it looks like the yellow brick road cause of the brick glitters!" and with the bar glitters I just dont read it. (just an opinion, then it could be a fun idea to do glitter placement with it across your nails haha its an idea!) although it did reminded me of the lions mane. idk, just not feeling it.

Haha okay now something good so it doesn't sound like I'm trying to be trashy or mean (cause im not)
OH MAH GAWD Emerald City OH that is what I'm talking about when I say Laura is capable of some high quality polish! It's beautiful! Deff my favorite from the collection.
And cowardly Lion. I love the colors in that one too.

And this collection overall is way better than OPI. When I saw their collection, I didn't understand the references. I still dont. Laura's collection did a really great job with the connection and idk I just really like it overall more than OPI. And Laura's collection has more variety (in my opinion).

    Sorry for the novel :P

Great pics and review (like always) <3

    1. Anna! Your creativity is showing lmao. See I never would of though of square! That would of been really cool though.

She did good, not everything was perfect. But I'd hand her my money over OPI anyday for this collection!

  2. Is that a curl on the red hex right in the middle of your closeup shot of Cowardly Lion? Just curious? The curly bars are something different, and interesting! I kinda like it!

    1. i dont think it was curled. i think it was the way the base was sitting on top of the glitter? you know what i mean? you can see it laying flat on my ring finger in the side shot. i dont remeber anu curling in that one either.

  3. I definitely like this more than OPI's collection! A better link in both colours and names, think my favourites are Emerald City and OTR! Bar glitter still doesn't appeal to me although the curly bars look really cool (:

  4. OMG! I love the Wizard of Oz. These are amazing :)

  5. All of them! I can't narrow it down to one so, Over the Rainbow and Good Witch ... and Yellow Brick Road and Tin Man's Heart. And my absolute fav, Scary Scarecrow. No question this is better than OPI's stab at an Oz collection. It's inspired!
