INFLUENSTER: Violet VoxBox

Influenster Violet VoxBox

Hi guys! Influenster is emailing me once a day to review this box, so I guess I should LOL. You might of seen my first impressions video I posted on YouTube. So, this post is going to be a more in depth review of the 5 items I received in the Violet Vox Box from Influenster!

Goody Athletique Headband MSRP $6.00

First up is Goody's Athletique Ouchless Headwrap. I think the concept of this item is quite cool. It's made out of athletic quick dry fabric - like from athletic clothing. I really like that it is reversible, basically giving you two headbands. Sadly, my hair isn't made for any type of headband haha. My hair is naturally super slick and shiny and the only way a headband like this (or ones with the rubber on them) to stay is if I use like 500 bobby pins :P So, long story short I don't see myself wearing this for any sort of athletic/house cleaning activity without having to adjust it 50 times to stay on my head. I did use it for a face mask and it still slipped off :[ If your hair works well with headbands - I do recommend giving this a shot though for working out.

Montagne Jeunesse Clay Spa MSRP $2.49

Montagne Jeunesse Clay Spa MSRP $2.49

This was the 2nd item I was most excited to try!  This is a pressed sea kelp, dead sea mud mas by Montagne Jeunesse. I love face masks, I do 1 or 2 each week. I have used Montagne Jeunesse in the past, but it's been awhile! I really liked how easy to use this mask was and how less messy this was in comparison to other face masks.

As you can see in my second picture it's sort of a paper face mask style. But at the same time it felt like a regular mud-type mask? Does that make sense? LOL You can't see it but the fabric mask is coated with a creamy type mud mask, so it requires some clean up but nothing significant. It came with 4 simple steps:
1) Wash yo face.
2) Apply the mask (It was a little big in areas of my face :[ esp around the nose).
3) Wait 15-20 minutes and relax. Then massage yo face.
4) Remove the mask and wash off the mask left on yo face.

I really liked how well this mask made my skin feel after washing it off. I also like that it didn't dry out my face, that seems to be an issue for me. I'd totally by another one to give it another shot!

SoyJoy MSRP $0.99

OHHH SOY JOY. LOL If you saw the video, you know how I felt about this baby. I was SO excited to try this bar. I have heard about Soy Joy since the Myspace years. The one I got was dark chocolate cherry. Influenster also sent out banana or cranberry flavors.

The package claimed "moister and fruitier".  It was quite dry, under my standards lol. I honestly think my mouth was watering because I was thirsty after 2 bites of this. It reminded me of a really packed together protein bar. Apparently you can unwrap it and warm it up in the microwave - I wonder if that would of made a difference. I wasn't really wanting to try that though LOL. The flavor was alright, it didn't wow me. It tasted like a brownie while I was chewing it, but it wasn't anything exceptional. I honestly like Luna bars because of their flavor and in comparison to Luna bars I felt like this was lacking. I don't think I'd buy/try another Soy Joy bar :[

Not Your Mother's Clean Freak Refreshing Dry Shampoo MSRP $5.99

I've reviewed NYM's products on my blog before. I've come to love this brand of hair products. The price point is great for the outcome I receive when I use NYM's products. I've tried Kinky Moves and Beach Babe. I can add Clean Freak to my collection because I love it!

I don't use dry shampoo to "wash" my hair. My hair can go 3-4 days without looking nasty or greasy so I don't really have a need for it. However, throughout the day/s my straight across bangs turn greasy looking. So I primarily use dry shampoo to bring my bangs to life!  Every morning when I wake up I spray some dry shampoo at the base of my bangs and fluff them with my hair brush. Doing that makes my bangs look fresh and clean all day! I love how long the effects of Clean Freak lasted. Usually I need to re apply the dry shampoo in the middle of the day, NOT with Clean Freak! I definitely recommend trying this dry shampoo brand out if you're in the market for some. I've tried Suave, Suave Professionals, and Psssst brands and NYM's is my favorite so far.

I've been wanting to try this line by Sally Hansen out so I was super stoked! I was also super stoked I didn't get a pink this time ;] I did 2 coats of Kelp Out. It had a great application. I loved the brush shape! It reminded me of the Wet n Wild Megalast brushes - which are also some of my favorite polishes. The dry time was okay, it was what I expect from a Sally Hansen polish... primarily the reason why I don't buy SH polishes often. The swatches are without top coat, I was quite impressed with how super shiny it was without it!

I stamped a little to go with the theme of the ocean. The watermarble stamp totally reminds me of sea kelp! The wear of this polish was great, I think.  I did have a coat of Seche Vite after the stamping. I wore it for about 4 days and there was very minimal chipping on the tips of my nails. I would purchase another bottle of this polish to give it a shot, I'm not too keen on the $5 price point for a Sally Hansen polish though...  that's just me!

  1. I lol'd at your review of the Soy Joy bar. I don't think I've tried that brand, but I've found a lot of those similar kinds of bars are like that, dry and not pleasant tasting enough to make up for it.

I'll have to keep my eye out for that dry shampoo next time I need a new one. I use Tresemme after I work out and it's ok to get me through the rest of the day, but it leaves my hair kind of stiff and unpleasant.
