Zoya Spring 2016 Petals Collection [L->R Azalea, Laurel, Tulip, Zahara, Leia, Aster]

Hey friends! Today, I have the new Spring 2016 collection from Zoya. This collection has some great spring colors with some nice shimmer. I really like this collection. It reminds me of some pretty flowers, most spring inspired collections just remind me of Easter haha. Check out the Petals Collection after the jump!

Zoya Azalea
Zoya Azalea

Zoya Azalea is described as a "classic spring pink with a captivating white and fuchsia flash". This is a nice classic spring pink, but the glass fleck shimmer makes it a little more interesting than most. I think this color would look great on a lot of different skin tones.

I did 3 coats of Azalea. It had a nice smooth application but a 3rd coat was needed to even out some patchiness. No complaints on dry time.

Zoya Laurel
Zoya Laurel

Laurel is a "warm pastel pink with the slightest hint of sheen to mimic a petal soft finish". I love pastel pinks in this shade. It's both bright and soft at the same time. Logical description, I know! I don't love the shimmer and I don't have it either, it's a nice touch to a typical creme finish color.

I did 3 coats of Laurel. Again, I had to do a 3rd coat to kill some of the patchiness from the 2 other coats. I feel like this dry time was a little bit longer than Azalea but waiting between coats helps.

Zoya Tulip
Zoya Tulip

Thanks Tulip for making my hands look tan, you da best haha. Tulip is a "pure pastel salmon cream with the slightest hint of sheen to mimic a petal soft finish". Still, not hating or loving the the light shimmer but I'm down with it.

I did 2 coats of Tulip. Some how this was slightly more opaque than her pink sister and allowed me to get away with 2 coats. Application was awesome and didn't cause any problems. A little time between coats is also recommended with this one.

Zoya Zahara
Zoya Zahara

I freakin' love this one. I think it's the contrast between the shimmer and the base color. Zahara is a "brilliant shimmering coral made modern with an opalescent effect". This is a great color to go from spring to summer.

I did 3 coats of Zahara. The formula of Zahara was pretty similar to Azalea. The 3rd coat was needed due to some patchiness. Either I was impatient or this one took a tad longer to dry. *shrugs*

Zoya Leia (ring finger: over Zoya Talia)
Zoya Leia
Zoya Leia over Zoya Talia

Leia is a "a sheer, opalescent white with flecks of fuchsia, green and gold". This is easily buildable if you prefer a softer, iridescent polish look. But it also looks great with 1 or 2 coats over virtually any color. *wonders what this would look like over black* I love the shift of colors you can see when layered over Talia.

I did 4 coats of Leia alone, and 2 coats over Talia. I was surprised I had no visible nail line in 4 coats, I was predicting 5 or 6. Layering was pretty easy and didn't require too much time to dry.

Zoya Aster
Zoya Aster

Aster is a "fresh periwinkle with flecks of fuchsia to create a dewy finish". This is such a great color for spring! It looks purple in some light and blue in others. I wore this to work and got a ton of compliments on this color.

I did 3 coats of Aster. From some angles I wonder if I needed a 4th? I seemed to have some patchiness issues with most of the glassfleck polishes in this collection. I wonder if it is from the curvature in my nails. No issue with dry time, probably dried the quickest in all the collection.

Top picks of this collection for me would be Aster and Zahara. Leia miggghtt be a close 3rd place, I can't decide how I feel about it. It kind of looks funky with my skin tone sometimes. What's your fave?

What do y'all think about this spring collection? I'm relived to see a Zoya spring collection without a yellow and green this year, for some reason LOL.

Happy Friday!

  1. Aster was my no brainer, I bought it but haven't worn it yet...we seem to be regressing into winter here...I was picturing wearing Aster during lovely Spring weather, but at the rate we're going, we will have to skip spring as it will be summer!
