COLOR STREET: Tinseltown Nail Strips Review

Pin It // Jan. 2021 edit: This has been a popular post of mine from month to month since I posted it in 2019. For some reason, me and my ding dong brain was not aware at the time that Color Street is a MLM (multi-level marketing company/network marketing company). I do not support MLM companies and their practices for multiple reasons. While I understand why people (mainly women) sign up to consult... as someone who has been preyed upon by consultants and has interacted with MLMs WAY too much being in the military family community for 10+ years... watching them exploit and destroy women -  MLM companies are just something I can personally support.

If you find these nail strips interesting or worth trying please note: Color Street is owned by a brand named Incoco, which has been around for quite awhile. I reviewed Incoco strips back in 2013: here. From personal experience with Incoco and Color Street labeled brands - THEY ARE identical products, from the strip quality all the way down to the packaging and application instructions. If you for whatever reason are compelled to try these strips and are willing to support the parent company... you can find them at Ulta or Walmart (Walmart sells both Incoco and the brand Coconut Nail Art, which is also by Incoco). Incoco does not sell directly from their website anymore. If you are interested in more trendy/unique nail art type nail strips, I highly recommend SCRATCH nail wraps.

I redacted the consultant's information from my post a few months after posting, but I chose to leave this review up as it is speaking directly about the product itself and it's performance. This is not up for discussion, don't @ me, comments have been turned off.

"Empowered women empower women — and that means supporting our friends but not supporting organizations or companies that exploit them."

Thank you
-L

Color Street Tinseltown Nail Strips

I’ve toyed around with the idea post posting or not posting this review for months. I fault myself as prior to accepting the sample, I didn’t do research and had no idea who Color Street was LOL. I know all too well that multilevel/network marketing companies can be a touchy subject. At the end of the day, my blog is here to review products and give my honest thoughts on quality and how those products perform with use

REVLON: I'm Electro

Revlon I'm Electro

Come on ya'll gather 'round, gather 'round. It's time for story time!

Once upon a time Lacey went out to a Mexican restaurant for her birthday dinner with a few frenz. She may or may not of drank a few too many margaritas, because they're awesome, and found a 24/7 Walgreens on the way back to the car. After cursing their lack of the newest Sinful Colors collections she happened upon a brand new, sparkly, untouched Revlon Electric Chrome Collection inspired by the newest Spider-Man movie. A little out of it, she oohed and ahhed over the magical sparkle of these polishes she quickly grabbed the 2 blue polishes and was happy as a clam. While slightly not all there, she knew she didn't want to pay $7 for each polish, and there was no sale - she (probably slurring) asked a poor sales associate - and had to make a decision between Super-Powered and I'm Electro. She turned to her trusty, right in the head, friend asking specifically "WHICH ONE IS MORE UNIQUE?!" Thus, Lacey of Lace & Lacquers came home with I'm Electro and is swatching it for you today.

Can I just say I have a friend who has an awesome eye for polish? LOL After coming home and Googling swatches trying to determine if I was going to keep this polish o'mine, I discovered she picked the most unique and impressive in the collection. I'm Electro is a shimmery light aqua blue chrome that shifts to purple. I have a good amount of duochrome polishes and I don't have something like this. The most similar would be Barielle Jillian's Jammin', but that is more of a brighter aqua.

I did 2 coats of I'm Electro alone, plus 1 coat over black - as you can see above. I was shocked that I could get away with 2 coats! I was planning for at least 3 coats for full coverage, so 2 made me happy that it wasn't super sheer. As you can see there is a slight difference when layering it over black. The black makes the aqua pop just a little bit more. I prefer layering it on its own because there seems to be a bit more contrast between the color shift. Does that make sense? LOL. I would wait between coats if layering, otherwise no complaints here!

POLISH INFORMATION Brand: Revlon

I'm totally in love with the bottle, that spiderweb! I might have to pick up the others IF AND WHEN THEY'RE ON SALE because Revlon is one of my favorite drugstore brands.

Hope you enjoyed today's story time lmfao.

Happy Friday!

REVLON: Girly & Heavenly

Pin It Good evening! Figured  I'd write this post up before we get slammed by a storm and the power is potentially lost!

Revlon Girly (left) and Heavenly (right)

These are 2 new Revlon polishes! Nail bloggers seem to be desperately trying to find them! THANKFULLY after stalking the heck out of K-mart and Rite Aid, I found the last 2 bottles in my Rite Aid store! It's kind of funny, I was thinking last night how this time last year I was searching for Revlon Starry Pink/Popular and Whimsical! Haha

Like Revlon Whimsical was a dupe of Glitter in the Air, one of these Revlon polishes seem to be another dupe for a Deborah Lippmann polish. Revlon Girly and Heavenly are what I will be swatching today, they both come from Revlon's Bubble Gum Days Urban Nights Collection.

Striping Tape Gradient Manicure

I've been trying to do some nail art but every top coat seems to be ruining it :[ JUST purchased some Seche Vite so thankfully nail art will resume soon, Decemer 5th-10th I'm told haha.

I DID however do a little striping tape manicure. I've seen a lot of gradient and striping tape manicures. I've always wanted to do one! However, they're usually super bright colors and a black polish on top. I'm not a fan of black manicures on me, so I tweaked it a little :P

10/31 Go Pink Wednesday: Pink Gradient Nails

Pin It NOOOOO! It's our last Go Pink Wednesday together :[ As much as I hate pink haha, this was a fun project to do and I hope we did something good in our little (not so little) community or beyond!

A final thank you to Andrea of Finger Painting Fingers for putting together Go Pink Wednesday! I'm glad I was asked to participate these past 5 weeks. It's fun seeing what the other bloggers came up with :]

Go Pink Wedensday
If you followed my Go Pink Wednesday posts (If you haven't, check them out here!). As I do every Go Pink Wednesday post, breast cancer facts. Since this is the last post and all my facts have been mainly about women, these facts will be about the men. Although mens' risk for breast cancer is quite low, it is very possible. You must read themmmmmmm or else I'll come find you and MAKE you read them! ;]

1) "Breast cancer risk in men is increased by elevated levels of estrogen, previous radiation exposure, and a family history of breast cancer". Medicenenet

2) "In 2012, it is estimated that among U.S. men there will be: 2,190 new cases of breast cancer 410 breast cancer deaths". komen.org

3) "In men, breast cancer can happen at any age, but is most common in men who are between 60 and 70 years old". CDC.gov

So, feel your man's boobs! Ok. that's awkward... YAY MANICURE TIME! :|

10/10 Go Pink Wednesday: Fight Like a Girl

Pin It Are you guys ready for  another installment of Go Pink Wednesday?! I AM! If you saw this already, it's because I shared it on Instagram after I accidentally blew the surprise hahaha... Either way I'm excited to finally post this manicure :]

Go Pink Wedensday

Again, Thanks to Finger Painting Fingers for forming a great way for the nail polish community to spread awareness of breast cancer! Here are your three facts about breast cancer, remember: you must read them before you read on to the manicure deets ;] October 10th's facts:

1) "Women should have a clinical breast exam at least every 3 years between the ages of 20 and 39 and every year starting at age 40". Komen.org
2)  "Most women have more than one known risk factor for breast cancer, yet will never get the disease". Komen.org
3) "More than 1.7 million women who have had breast cancer are still alive in the United States". About.com

I hope you enjoy this manicure as much as I did! I thought it was an awesome depiction of the phrase "fight like a girl". More after the jump!

If you're new to my blog (*waves*!) and aren't familiar with "the list", pretty much - in a previous giveaway I asked for nail art suggestions. Welp, those suggestions ended up forming "the list", where I am going top to bottom doing them all :]

Lex Cosmetics Tuileries
