ZOYA Summer 2012 Beach & Surf Collection Swatches/Review

Pin It So, today I'm super excited to give you guys a preview of Zoya's 2012 Summer Collection, Beach & Surf!

 Top: Surf, Bottom: Beach
Swatches after the jump!

I always like that Zoya has a tendency to release two parts to collections! A little bit for everyone! This collection is split into Beach and Surf. I consider Beach to be the creme, fun colors. And Surf to be the shimmery, foil, sexy colors. It's like day and night in a rainbow of Zoya!

Just a heads up all these swatches do not have a top coat.

First up, the Beach Collection:

 Zoya Regan: 2 Coats

Regan, described by Zoya as: "deep, cool fuchsia pink with subtle blue undertone and an opaque cream finish... packs a lot of color without being excessively bright and is soft but not overly muted." This is very pigmented, I could of gotten away with ONE coat, but did two for good measure and coverage. A very nice pink without being too pink.

Zoya Lara: 2 Coats

Zoya describes Lara as: "medium magenta-rose pink with subtle yellow undertone and a soft cream finish". Lara is defiantly not shorting anyone who is craving a pink polish!

Zoya Shelby: 3 Coats

True story, I'm a sucker for light pink cremes haha. And this one hits head on in what I look for when I'm searching for a light pink creme polish. I was sad when I had to add an extra coat compared to Regan and Lara because I was hoping this would be a 2 coater. Does this pink scream "BARBIE!!!" to anyone else? haha :]

 Zoya Arizona: 2 Coats

Next, Arizona. An orange creme! Described by Zoya as: "Softened bright citrus orange with a muted cream finish. This orange is bright but also very soft, giving it a fun, orange sherbet-like look on the nails." Very true, Zoya! This is a super fun shade to wear during the summer, it's orange without being ORAAANNGGEE. However, I did keep thinking of Cheetos when I was applying this haha.

Zoya Tracie: 3 Coats

Tracie is the most sheer and only polish with a shimmer in the Beach collection. It reminds me of Essie Navigate Her but with some shimmer. I don't know why my swatch looks kind of streaky since it has a frosty/pearly finish, but it isn't horribly streaky looking. Zoya descibes Tracie as: "faded, yellow-toned pistachio green with delicate silvery shimmer for a frosted pearl finish."

Zoya Wednesday: 2 Coats

Last in the Beach collection is Wednesday. Haha Wednesday Adams anyone? *Hums the Adam's Family theme song* SNAP SNAP! Annnyyywayyysssss! I was wondering when Zoya would release an aqua/robbin's egg blue polish, everyone seems to flock toward these shades. Zoya calls Wednesday: a "faded dirty medium turquoise with green undertone and an opaque cream finish".  I do like that this one is different compared to the other aqua shades though, see comparisons below, you can really see the dirtiness of Wednesday Zoya describes.

L->R Wet 'n Wild: I Need a Refresh-Mint, Zoya Wednesday,
China Glaze For Audrey & Sinful Colors Be Happy.

They look a lot of like lined up and head on but they are different on the nail! See below:

T->B:Wet 'n Wild, China Glaze and Sinful Colors
comparison to Zoya Wednesday, 3 Coats of each.

See what I mean? You can really see the "dirty turquoise" color Zoya describes. I like it though, it makes it look really different! What do you think? These colors would make for an awesome gradient mani ;]

Phew! So that was the Beach Collection. NOWWWW on to the Surf Collection!

 Zoya Carly: 1 Coat

This is Carly, I was a lot more pleased with it on the nail! I though it was going to be another deep purple black. There is a crazy amount of gorgous silver shimmer in this plum colored purple. Zoya describes Carly as: "very rich, bold, red-toned dark purple with iridescent red and silver metallic shimmer and a dense foil finish." So pretty! Another thing I'm impressed by: ONE FREAKING COAT! One coaters make my heart smile.

 Zoya Kimber: 2 Coats

Next is Kimber, unlike Carly, this one has a gold shimmer to it. It is a very bright pink, which I feel like I've seen a lot of across different brands, but I do appreciate the amount of gold shimmer in this one compared to others. Described by Zoya as: "rich, bright and saturated medium magenta pink with strong gold metallic shimmer and a foil-like finish".

 Zoya Rory: 2 Coats

Rory is so pretty. I was again surprised, as I looked at the bottle I was like "yeah, yeah, a pink-ish-lilac shimmer" but NO! This turns your nails into beautiful princess colored nails. It kind of made me want to be a little girl again and wear this everyday haha. Zoya's description: "medium mauve pink with lilac tones, gold and silver reflective metallic shimmer accents, and a foil-like finish". I don't really have any pinks in my collection that look like this, it's just so soft yet shimmery at the same time.

Zoya Myrta: 2 coats

Myrta: "Warm medium orange coral with red undertone, gold and silver metallic shimmer, and a foil-like finish. The coral color of Myrta is soft, but the foil finish gives it added warmth and glow". I have to say, this was my least favorite for some reason, I can't quite pin point why. I think I was picturing it in my head to be more darker than it came out on my nails. Hmm, maybe I need to go tanning...

I was reminded of Zoya Rica and ChG Riveting when I swatched this, here's the comparison between the trio:

L->R: Zoya Rica, China Glaze Riveting, and Zoya Myrta

T->B: Zoya Rica, Zoya Myrta, China Glaze Riveting. 2 Coats of each

I know, I know, they don't look much a like in the bottle. But I had it set in my mind that they were similar! On the nail, I personally think Rica and Myrta look a lot alike but Rica has more gold flecks in it that Myrta does not. Obviously I was way off on Riveting haha, it's more red-orange (duh) than a coral color. I had to see for myself, ya know?!

Zoya Meg: 2 Coats
Meg, oh Meg! I do love this green, but I'm a sucker for greens haha. "Light yellow-toned mermaid green with heavy gold and silver metallic shimmer and a sparkling foil finish", says Zoya. I just love how fresh and green it looks. Here are a few comparisons:

L->R: Zoya Apple, Zoya Meg and Color Club Molten

T->B: Color Club Molten, Zoya Meg and Zoya Apple

I think Meg has the foil of Molten but with the green-yellow color of Apple. Either way, happy to have all three in my collection! Pretty greens are a must have!

Zoya Zuza: 2 Coats

Lastly, Zuza. I think this was the color I felt people around the Zoya Facebook page were most excited about. I wasn't trying to get into the hype of this polish but.. HOLY GORGEOUS! Can I wear this all week? Longer than 3 days, please? This is my favorite out of the entire Beach & Surf Collection. It's just SO... different... and blue... and shimmery! SO MUCH to LOVE! Zoya describes Zuza, "deep, saturated, oceanic turquoise with gold and silver metallic shimmer and a foil-like finish. A beachy, colorful, foil-like shade with the perfect balance between blue and green". You win me over Zuza, with your pretty shimmers and your gorgeous color!

TL;DR? Overall I'm impressed with the bright colors, finishes, and application of all these colors. I really can't complain too much about any of these, they were just great. The only complaint I have is about Shelby with the 3 coats, but that's expected from a light pink creme polish. I like that out of all my Zoyas and out of all the polishes I have, I can't find a single dupe for one of these. I'm sure there is some out there (or waiting to be made) but for now that makes me happy! My top faves from the collection? Zuza, Rory, Tracie and Arizona, great colors!

Until next time!
Lacey
