Forget Me Not Friday - CHINA GLAZE: Point Me to the Party
Pin It
It's been a minute since I dug into my bin of untrieds to share with ya'll! ;] Today, I have a glitter topper from China Glaze's latest collection, Summer 2015 Electric Nights. This collection was filled with amazing, neon awesomeness and this is one polish I couldn't pass up. And The Beauty Clutch was nice enough to send me Point Me to the Party as a gift! Check it out!
Point Me to the Party is a glitter topper with: "Neon green, orange, pink, purple, and blue matte multi-sized glitter" in a clear base. I know this polish has an indie vibe to it, and that's totally okay with me. This glitter topper is so much fun and so versatile. Neon glitter is a great way to spice up any mani, if I do say so myself.
I did 2 coats of Point Me to the Party. The application was easy to work with and had decent glitter coverage. I feel like it could of had more glitter because it was a little on the base-y side, which can affect dry time. I'd recommend waiting between coats, especially if you're a heavy coater.
Have you picked up any other polishes from the Electric Nights Collection? I can't decide what others I "must have". If you're interested in shopping at The Beauty Clutch, feel free to score 5% off any order with my code: LACLQ05. (You can always find this code in the sidebar, btw!)
Happy Friday!
These
items were sent to me as gifts. My opinions of the brand are my own and are
not influenced in any way. Please read the disclaimer tab for more
information about my reviews.

Forget Me Not Friday: JULEP - Aretha
Pin It
HAPPY FRIDAY! Today I have Julep Aretha to share with you. Geeze, I haven't reviewed a Julep since last year... This is from the Julep 2014 Birthstone Collection. This is March's birthstone polish. Since my birthday is on Monday, I figured it was about time I pulled this one out :P Check out the swatches down below.

Aretha is a "multi-dimensional glitter top coat" inspired by the March birthstone, aquamarine. This polish is filled with iridescent (swoon) hex and square glitter filled with rainbow flashes. While this polish looks like it has a sheer blue base, that actually shows up as clear.
Not that big of a deal, but I'd expect it to be blue if it's representing aquamarine. You know?! At least it's good news to anyone who want/ed this polish, it's just an iridescent glitter topper haha... pretty darn easy to find.
I did 1 coat of Aretha over China Glaze Kinetic Candy. The formula was a little on the thick side, but was easy to spread over the nail with multiple brush strokes. I'll probably add a drop of thinner next time. Great dry time, no issue.
Like I said, if you like this polish... you can probably find an available alternative without issue. I don't love it but I don't hate that I own it LOL. Just kind of sad that I spent $12 on it. Meh. You win some, you lose some.
XOXO,
I bought this myself. Is that good enough for you, Federal Trade Commission?

Forget Me Not Friday: CHINA GLAZE - Howl You Doin'
It's finally Friday! I don't know about ya'll, but I'm so happy this week is almost over with haha. Today I have a polish from the China Glaze LE Monster's Ball 2013 Halloween Collection. I remember this being the ONLY polish I had to have from that collection, and I've been hoarding it since the end of 2013 :X

Howl You Doin' is a super deep, dark purple jelly base with bright purple glitter tiny orange flakie-glitter-thingies. I love the mix of colors in this polish and the way the orange shines through the deep purple base. I know this color is a little dark for the current spring/summer season... but it looks awesome with Model City Polish Fritillaria, which I reviewed yesterday - here!
I did 2 coats of Howl You Doin', plus the coat of tops. I did add an extra 3rd coat on some parts of my nail to even the finish out. It had a slightly thick formula so I had to even out those spots. The formula wasn't horrible to work with, I'll probably add a few drops of thinner next time? No dry time issues though.
Although this color was LE for Halloween in 2013, you can still find it online to buy :D Fall colors ALL YEAR LONG YASSSSSS!!!
Happy Friday!

GUEST POST: Lacey from My Boyfriend Hates Makeup: Neon Splatter Mani
Pin It
Hello, lovely readers of Lace & Lacquers!
I wanted to end with this last pic, which is the tinfoil/back drop that was used for the mani. I think it looks really fun and I actually used it as the background for my phone for a while.

Your regularly scheduled Lacey is moving so she asked for a couple of guest posters. I am your substitute Lacey for the day, LOL. I wanted to come up with something bright and fun to match the usual tone on this site, so today I have a neon splatter/graffiti/whatever you want to call it mani for you!
First, I painted my nails a pale base color. This is Friends Forever, Right? from the China Glaze Giver collection. It may look white but it is the palest of the pale pinks. This is three thin coats and topcoat.
After it dried, I tagged my boyfriend in for some lung power. He used a dunkins straw for the splatter. I used a rainbow of neons, including China Glaze, Sinful Colors and Nire's Desire, an indie company. Clearly, this look requires some cleanup...
But, after you spend forever with an elf concealer brush and some acetone, you get an awesome finished look!
I wanted to end with this last pic, which is the tinfoil/back drop that was used for the mani. I think it looks really fun and I actually used it as the background for my phone for a while.
Thank you, Lacey S, for letting me guest post! I hope yall enjoyed my splatter/graffiti mani! If you'd like to come follow me, you can find me below.
Thanks for reading this post!

BLOGOWEEN DAY #2: Dripping Blood
Pin It
Today is Day #2 of Blogoween! Check out the first day here! I'm doing Halloween manis every Monday and Friday until Halloween. Sooooo - here's day 2!
I did some creepy dripping blood using a detailing brush and Killer Queen Varnish Red Red Wine (swatched here!) over China Glaze Immortal. I knew the minute I swatched it, I wanted to create this manicure. I kinda wish I didn't do the dripping, but it is what it is. I really like Red Red Wine and Immortal together though!
My first attempt was with Red Red Wine and Zoya Storm. The idea was nice in my head, but sadly Storm was too dark to see the dark red "blood". It was even harder to see in person than in my picture. Bad news bears. I did like my drips better though... I think... only because I could hardly see them LMFAO!
Hope you enjoyed this creepy mani! Can't wait to show you what I might come up with on Friday! I say might, in case I mess it up bahahahhahaha. By the way, my last Blogoween mani was featured in a PopSugar Beauty article! Check out my Ghostbusters mani and 69 other awesome Halloween nail art ideas - here!

PS: To get you into the Halloween spirit, I have a HUGEEEE giveaway going on. Don't forget to enter before it's too late! It's a-live until 10/16! Mwhahahahah :D

#NOTD 4th of July Nail Art
Pin It
HAPPY 4TH OF JULYYYYYYYYYYYYY ERRRYYYBODYYYY! Please be safe and have lots of fun if you're celebrating :] Today I did a quick striped mani for the occasion :]
Those are the 3 polishes I used in the mani! Just applied the blue and red with a striping brush. The Sinful Colors and China Glaze polishes I go to a lot, great opaque creme polishes to work with. The Super Chic Lacquer was in my last Monthly Favorites video :]
I left it alone at first because I liked the simplicity of the stripes. Consulted a fellow nail artist friend of mine and decided to add some star glitter into the mix :]
I ended up removing the stars because I kept scratching myself with them, I didn't take time to apply them nicely haha... that's what I get! How cute is the striped mani with the Dr. Pepper Vanilla Float can?! (BTW does anyone else think it just tastes like regular DP? lollll).
Happy 4th!
