Forget Me Not Friday - WET N WILD: Mega Rocks Rising Star & Bundle Monster BM-317

Wet n Wild Mega Rocks LE Rising Star

It's Friday and once again I bring youuuuuuu: FORGET ME NOT FRIDAY! This was a limited edition Wet n Wild Mega Rocks polish I picked up last end of summer/fall/sometime in 2014 (Just looked it up - Halloween 2014). You know, now that I moved... I really miss being around 3 Walgreens :[ Oh, well! Here's this weeks polishhhhhhhh!

Please forgive the condition of my skin. It had a freakout moment the other day for some reason. Then I wasn't paying attention and clipped a chunk out of my skin. #life Cross your fingers my insurance approves me getting a lightbox for at home phototherapy treatments!

Wet n Wild Mega Rocks LE Rising Star
Wet n Wild Mega Rocks LE Rising Star
Wet n Wild Mega Rocks LE Rising Star

Rising star is a rose gold appearing polish, a clear based filled with gold and iridescent microflakie shimmer and light pink small and tiny hex. Ok, so it's not a total "FMNF" because I did swatch it over a base color once :X It's a great way to add a little shimmer on top of another color and it looked really nice. Although it gives me the lobster hands, it really enjoy it being built up on its own. It kind of reminds me of Julep Love, but with pink glitter.

I did 3 coats of Rising Star on bare nails. I really like how well this looks without a base coat and the fact that you don't need like 10 coats to make it opaque haha. It had a nice smooth application despite everything that is packed into it. I had no issues with dry time.

Bundle Monster plate BM-317 stamping

Since Valentine's Day is tomorrow and I happened to find my stamper finally, I decided to stamp over the pretty glitter! I used images from BM-317 along with Lakur Weekend Cheers (pink) and China Glaze Hey Sailor (red). I guess we can add this to Forget Me Not Friday because I've never used this plate LOL!

Month of the Military Child

As you may (or may not) know, April is Month of the Military Child. And today, April 15th, was the day chosen where everyone will wear purple to honor these children. Purple is the color that represents all branches of the US military. While I do not have children, my nephews are military children and I have a lot of military wife friends who have children!

I've been asked a few times what exactly is Month of the Military Child. It's simply a month to honor military children and their military families. As a US Navy wife, I have made many (not so easy) sacrifices in my life... and I can only imagine the sacrifices kids are forced to make (possibly multiple times) throughout their childhood. So April is the month that was chosen in 1986 to recognize military families and their contributions. If you want to know more about this month, you can go here. The website also gives some ideas of how to celebrate the month. :]

BLAH BLAH BLAH, haha here's the manicure I did for Month of the Military Child, after the jump.

Movember - Prostate Cancer Awareness Month

Pin It I think we're all aware that November is also known as Movember. If you're not familiar with Movember, it's "an annual, month-long event involving the growing of moustaches during the month of November to raise awareness of prostate cancer and other male cancer and associated charities". Source

I was asked by Melissa, over at Missy's Manis, to participate in a post dedicated to raise awareness for prostate cancer. I knew I couldn't pass this up! Much like Melissa's dad, my dad is also a prostate cancer survivor (HI DAD! He reads my blog quite often haha). I can't image how scary having cancer is but, I do know how scary it was for me when I learned my dad had cancer. So this manicure is dedicated to my dad, other survivors and those who have been diagnosed with prostate cancer.

I Googled the "color of prostate cancer" since I honestly didn't know. The color for prostate cancer is light blue (you can check here if you want to be more exact haha). Makes sense to me! So I grabbed a light blue polish and went on my way to a prostate cancer themed manicure!

In addition, if you kept up with Go Pink Wednesday for breast cancer awareness... you know that I posted 3 facts related to breast cancer. Welp, this is going to be the same dealio!

1) "The most common cancer in men, no matter your race or ethnicity". Source

2) "The risk of developing prostate cancer increases after the age of 50 years. Majority of prostate cancer are diagnosed in men over 65 years". Source

3) "Prostate cancer that is localized in the prostate usually is curable, but once the cancer has spread to lymph nodes, bones or other sites, it no longer is curable". Source

Prostate cancer is very much like any other cancer, the more aware you are of what is going on with your body the more likely you are able to detect it early. Screenings and check ups are the key!

Jump over, I have more pictures of the manicure and a mustache tutorial :P

Domestic Violence Awareness - "Break Silence" Stamping Manicure

Pin It Lazy Sunday for me! Hope your weekend went well :)

October, October. A month of Halloween and best known for breast cancer awareness month. Often, because those are so widely known, other awarenesses that share October are overlooked. You can find a list of awareness months here.

The ones, besides breast cancer awareness, that stand out to me the most for October are Adopt a Shelter Dog Month, Infant Loss Awareness, Bully Prevention and Domestic Violence Awareness.

So, today's "the list" manicure is inspired by Domestic Violence Awareness in October.

Like my Go Pink Monday posts, I present you with facts:

1) "Domestic violence is the leading cause of injury to women between the ages of 15 and 44 in the United States, more than car accidents, muggings, and rapes combined". Source

2) "1 in 4 women will experience domestic violence in her lifetime". Source

3) "1 in 10 calls made to alert police of domestic violence is placed by a child in the home". Source

Ok, now that the educational business is over, you can click over for the mani ;)

KNOCKED UP NAILS: Swatches & Review

Pin It I've been given the opportunity to review some polishes from a new polish brand called Knocked Up Nails! I'm going a little more in depth with this review since they are a newer brand and there is less information out there about it. Please don't skip this post just because of the brand's name, especially if you're into cruelty free polishes!!

Left: Mint Chip at Midnight, Right: Prenatal Princess

Here's a little bit about the Knocked Up Nails (KUN, as I'll refer to it) from their site:

"Our pregnancy-safe nail polish formula does not contain toluene, formaldehyde, dibutyl phthalate or camphor. Through our cheeky polish names we show a little extra lovin’ to the preggos, but Knocked Up Nails is also safe for allergy sufferers, cancer patients & children. Our hip, modern hues are long-lasting and chip resistant. All of our polishes are cruelty free and made in the USA."

Check out some more information, swatches and reviews after the jump!

Bundle Monster Set #2 Review & REVLON: Midnight, MAC COSMETICS: Immortal Gold

Pin It Hey guys! Sorry I've been MIA for a few days, my NEW MacBook charger crapped out on me and I started P90x, so I've been so tired! But Husband is gone for the weekend on Navy duties so, I get his laptop all to me! :D

ON an AWESOME note! I have 7 followers! Awwww so sweet <3 That made me smile! As lame as it seems, it has been my dream for like 5 years to make a nail blog, and 7 followers makes me feel like gold! :] Still planning a giveaway, I gotta find a few other things for it ;] Planning it to be a "Spring Break" giveaway!

Annnnyyyyyyhowww! I FINALLY got a Bundle Monster set! :O

I grabbed the 2nd Bundle Monster set on Amazon for $22 for 25 plates. They also have a first set, $18 for 21 plates. I got the 2nd one because I've seen better reviews on them than the first set anndddd you just get more haha! However, I DID speak to someone on Instagram who purchased the 1st set last week and said they work PERFECTLY! Hmm, might grab those soon ;]

I played around with a good chunk of the designs. I painted, scraped and stamped for about an hour and a half. I didn't use all the designs, almost one from every plate to check to see how well they were engraved and if they were even. I didn't have a single problem with ANY of the plates. Everything came out wonderfully! For Konad stamping or any stamping at all,  I never use Konad Special Polishes. I always use regular nail polish and I never have a problem using them, so just letting you know these plates are fine with regular polish. When I do stamp, I'm a big fan of Sinful Colors black and white polishes, they're cheap and they get the job done right!

SOOO I got down to business!

Here are a few of the stamps I tried out. Please excuse the crazy combos! I was messing around with some of the polishes I haven't tried yet haha (note large bowl of polishes)

Everything came out great! I threw on a coat of Seche Vite and wore it for a day because I wasn't in the mood to change polish. I bet my apartment office thought I was a nut! Here is the mani I ended up with 2 days later on:
Zoya: Rica, Sinful Colors: Black on Black, BM #208

Overall: I have ZERO complaints about bundle monster and the quality of their stamping plates. I tried about 85% of all the plates and everything came out awesome. If you're someone looking to try stamping, or you already do some stamping, I suggest you try Bundle Monster. After using these plates, I'm never buying a Konad plate. (Never say never.) The quality of these seems to be VERY close to Konad's plates. I usually can only find a Konad plate for about $4-5, if not more. You get SOOOO many Bundle Monster plates for what you would pay for a few Konad plates. If you're hesitant, try it!

So, 2 days later I got sick of my manicure... mostly because I suck so bad at stamping my thumbs haha. I decided to do a half moon mani. I let my husband help me choose the color of the half moon.

MAC: Immortal Gold, Revlon Colorstay: Midnight

I LOOOOOVE this manicure so much! Especially the Revlon Colorstay Midnight. It's a beautiful inky navy blue. SOOOO gorgeous! I grabbed it at CVS with 2 coupons I had, so instead of $8ish it was only about $4ish. Let me just say, ONE FREAKING COAT!!! ;]

Before this mani I haven't used the Mac Immortal Gold too much, just for accents and stamping. My sister got it for me for Christmas. I love it! It's SO SO SO pretty! The only downside I thought was the drying time, so I finished it off with Seche Vite before I applied the blue (also so it wouldn't smear when I added a top coat to the whole thing).

I'm off to do some housework and do my P90x stretching (rest day today! WOOT!)

Talk to you guys later!
Until next time,
Lacey
